Abstract

This article examines the musical tastes of the German politician Otto von Bismarck on the eve and during the period of German unification, based on the memoirs of the German diplomat Robert von Koidell, which have not been studied in Russian historiography. The study of this problem in the focus of the psychology of musical preferences and on the basis of the “Big Five” model, the Five-factor model of personality, contributes to a better understanding of the personality of the “iron” chancellor, and an examination in this connection of certain fragments of Bismarck's biography will make it possible to verify the correctness of such conclusions.
