Abstract

The article focuses on the issues of legal adaptation of the first-wave Russian émigrésin the USA. The article discusses the stages and features of the process of regularization of the personal and legal status of Russian post-1917 émigrés; some personal storiesof naturalization of Russian Americans; the role of the League of Nations in resolving the issue of the legal status of the first-wave Russian émigrés, etc. The article is based on documents from Russian archives — the State Archive of the Russian Federation, Archive of the Foreign Policy of the Russian Federation — and information fromRussian émigré press.
