Abstract

The paper is dedicated to inscriptions in Russian 15th — 17th-century manuscripts which record transactions with the book, such as gift, donation, and purchase, which were published by Varvara Adrianova in 1912 and dated by this scholar to a time earlier than 1700 A preliminary classification of this material is suggested. The author discusses the main ways of the analysis of those inscriptions, using text-historical and diplomatical methods. The outer and the inner form of those texts is studied. Some directions of future studies of those inscriptions as a valuable historical source are outlined.
