Abstract

The paper focuses on FRG`s approach to the usage of military tools in Africa. The authors pay attention to the key characteristics of the evolution of this approach during the 1990s – the first half of the 2010s. The researchers note that German participation in the resolution of Malian armed conflict means the transition to a basically new phase of German strategy in Africa. The article tries to explore the role of Malian problem in its context. The paper highlights the key phases of FRG`s participation in Malian armed conflict and characterizes each of them. The article also analyzes the reasons of the growing role of Malian direction in German African strategy during the second half of the 2010s. Also, the authors examine the position of Germany towards the usage of the capacities of the African Union, the European Union, the United Nations and NATO in Mali. In this regard the character and intensity of German-French and German-United States cooperation in political-military field in Africa are also assessed in this scientific paper.
