Abstract

Names of Nadezhda and Karel Kramarzh went down in history due to their philanthropic activity. The Kramarzhs rendered a wide range of multifarious aid to Russian emigration. This article is devoted to one of the aspects of such aid, i.e. the remarkable contribution of the couple to the establishment and functioning of the “Brotherhood for Internment of Russian Orthodox Christians and Preservation of their Burial Sites in Czechoslovakia”. The Uspenskoye (Dormition) Brotherhood played a distinct role in the church life of Russian emigration in Czechoslovakia. The Brotherhood assisted in construction of the Orthodox Cathedral in Prague allowing the parish to minister in it. Due to the Brotherhood activities on fit out and upkeep of Orthodox burial sites Russian necropolis in Olshany today is one of the remarkable monuments of Russian emigration.
