Abstract

The article is devoted to the policy of Russia in Iran and its interaction with Great Britain in this country in 1914. On the eve of the Great War, the two European Empires had the task of strengthening ties between them, transforming them into a full-fledged union. However, there were still many unresolved issues between Russia and Britain that caused tension. A significant part of them was associated with Qajar Iran. The main “trigger points” in Russian-British and Russian-Iranian relations, the tasks of Russian policy in Iran, the complexity of interaction between the authorities of different levels of Russia, Britain and Iran are also shown. The influence of the personal factor on the development of international relations in Iran in 1914 is noted.
