Abstract

In June 2019, the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Pontifical Committee of historical Sciences (Vatican), the Department for External Church Relations of the Russian Orthodox Church and the State Academic University for the Humanities held a conference in Moscow on Holiness in the traditions of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church. The conference discussed topics such as the history of canonization, the holiness of bishops, monks and ordinary believers, the practice of veneration of saints in both churches.
