Abstract
In the middle of the XVI century Volga-Ural region has experienced a severe political and economic crisis. The beginning of the troubles in the Nogai Horde and the capture by the troops of Ivan IV of Kazan has demanded from heads of the Bashkir childbirth making difficult decisions, on which depended the future fate of the people. In these conditions, most of the Bashkirs and the Kazan khanate, the Nogai Horde has voluntarily recognized the new Russian government, which offered them the preservation of internal self-government and inviolability of their land rights.
