Abstract

The article describes an attempt to create the first Russian diplomatic station in the Safavid state, headed by the clerk (dyak) Vasily Alekseevich Kuchukov. The goals and objectives of the mission are described, the specifics of interaction with the Iranian authorities, the conflict situation related to the diplomatic ceremony at the reception at the court of the Shah is analyzed. Special attention is paid to the consideration of the features of the system of interaction between Russian departments — the Embassy Order and the Order of the Kazan Palace, which was in charge of contacts with the Safavid power at the end of the 17th century. The work summarizes all currently available information about Kuchukov's biography, his service in various ranks (podyachiy, dyak), voivodeship, management of the salt industry, property status and relationships with various persons and structures.
