Abstract

The article considers the possibility of a hypothetical restoration reconstraction of Daniil Zatochnik’s (12th or 13th century) “inner monologue” by searching for the “context memory” of quotes and allusions used in his “Word” and/or “Prayer”. Despite all the differences in the texts preserved in the copies of this monument, the initial part of it remains unchanged. Riccardo Picchio rightly sees it as the “biblical thematic key” to understanding the entire Daniel’s “Word”/ “Prayer”. Researchers, as a rule, proceeded from the subjective impression that it made on them, when characterizing the introductory part of this work. Turning to biblical texts that Daniel directly or indirectly quotes allows us to restore the meaning of this fragment more accurately.
