Abstract

The article addresses the concept of science diplomacy within the framework of cognitive paradigm of knowledge. We analyze the mental spaces of science diplomacy, specifically in the process of intercognitive, intercultural communication. Science diplomacy is considered as a tool for building a multidimensional space of dialogue between different poles and civilizations in the context of the emergence of a new multipolar world. We argue that science diplomacy is an integrated concept based on the multi-level conceptual mappings between various mental spaces of science and diplomacy. We prove that mental spaces of science diplomacy are structured by the frames of “trust”, “balance”, and “control”.
