Abstract

The article analyzes the new French school program in history for general lyceums (the last three school classes in the French education system), which has been in force since 2019. The chronological method of constructing the program, as well as the emphasis on topics such as the British model of the state and its influence on Western civilization, the evolution of electoral legislation, the process of urbanization and transformation of cities, the consequences of the colonial policy of France and other European powers, of course, are the strengths of the new program. At the same time, building a program around historical processes, rather than events, makes it difficult to understand and, perhaps, does not correspond to the level of preparation of children in general classes. Unfortunately, the program and methodological recommendations for it continue to distort the role and image of Russia, which is especially noticeable in topics on the history of the 20th century.
