Abstract

The article examines chronicle evidences about capture of noble captives during intrastate cionflicts of knyazs in pre-Mongolian Rus. Evidences given in chronological order and related to the circumstances of the respective military conflicts. The analysis of the texts of the chronicle evidences has been done. Note the restrained nature of the texts, the short reference to captives, and hierarchical structure of list of captives. It is concluded that the capture of noble captives is connected with the political ambitions of the knyazs.
