Abstract

The article examines the biography of Sokollu Damat Mehmed Pasha, who was the Grand Vizier of the Ottoman Empire for almost fifteen years during the reign of three sultans: Suleiman I, Selim II, Murad III. The paper pays particular attention to the process of making Sokolovich's career. The authors highlight the fact that high intelligence, analytical thinking skills and courage allow Mehmed Sokoll to attract the attention of the sultans and win their trust and respect. The authors analyze the military campaigns in which Sokolovich took part and which he led. The conclusion drawn in this article is that the heyday of the Ottoman Empire ended with the death of this outstanding person, who, despite his origin, has always remained a patriot of the Ottoman Empire.
