Abstract

Indianism as an ideological and political movement aimed at the liberation of the Indians, relying on the indigenous, traditional structures of the Indian community, on the culture and racial advantages of the Indians, gave rise to the 20—30s of the 20th century the educational current of the indeanist teachers, who gained special strength and influence in Bolivia, Mexico and Ecuador. In Bolivia, they were able to create an ideal Indian school-community in Warisata, which became a model for the enlightenment of the Indian population of other countries of the continent, especially in Mexico. A strong relationship of cooperation and mutual support was established between the teacher community of Bolivia and Mexico, which was reflected in the political rapprochement of the two states in the conjuncture of revolutionary fermentation on the continent in the 30s. The influence of Mexico on Bolivian politics was to a large extent prepared by the activities of indianist teachers. This text is devoted to the analysis of the socio-political role of Bolivian Indianist teachers in the political struggle, the study of the features of their educational and social experiment-utopia in Warisata.
