Abstract

Representatives of the Russian diaspora of the “first post-revolutionary wave” left a significant mark in the history of the world fashion industry of the 20th century. The revolutionary events of 1917 in Russia and the arrival in Europe and America of thousands of Russian refugees have created in Western society there is a huge interest in “Russian" and "Russian style”, manifested in the mass demand for “Slavic” Handicrafts and products of Russian fashion Houses that emerged in the early 1920s, first in France then in Britain and the United States . One of the recognized centers of the fashion industry of the Russian abroad in 1917—1939 was Harbin, whose socio-cultural phenomenon is unique. The article focuses on the features of the development of “Russian Harbin” fashion industry in 1917—1939. Special attention is paid to the transformation of the “Russian style” in preserving the national traditions of the clothing culture of the emigrant society of the “first post-revolutionary wave” and to the problem of personification of the anthropology of the fashion industry of “Russian Harbin” of 1917—1939.
