Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of changes in Russia's foreign policy at the turn of the 19th — 20th centuries. The stages of rapprochement between the Russian Empire and the French Republic and the methods of constructing the image of a “friend of Russia” are analyzed. The process of creating of information space (publications, press) and ceremonial urban space (street decoration, symbols) is traced in the article, including integral elements of visualization such as photographs, postcards, ceremonial chronicles. The features of the perception of foreign policy transformations by the Russian public and their influence on the national policy of memory are revealed.
