Abstract

School had a main place in the formation of the worldview of all generations of soviet people. School textbook often became the first (and with someone the only) source of information about the world for people whose childhood and youth fell on 1937—1991. In the article it was analyze the school textbooks on “History of the USSR”, “History of the Ancient World”, “History of the Middle Ages”, “Modern History”, “Contemporary History”, which was used in the soviet school of the 1930s — 1980s. One aspect was singled out: what information about Japan was present in soviet school textbooks on “History” (and whether it was present at all), how large the volume of this information was and what concepts were laid down to the worldview of generations who studied “History” in the soviet school from 1937 to 1991. The chronological boundaries are determined by the release date of the first soviet school textbook on history and before the collapse of the USSR.
