Abstract

The article publishes 11 letters of the Soviet historian-turkologist Anna Tveritinova addressed to the outstanding Russian historian of the Ottoman Empire, academician Vladimir Gordlevsky. The letters from 1939 to 1951 are preserved in the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences. These documents are an important source on the history of Soviet Oriental studies, in particular the history of the study of Ottoman Turkey in the USSR. They described in detail the history of A. S. Tveritinova PhD thesis defending about Kara Yazici (Deli Hasan) uprising. This dissertation (on the basis of which in 1946 the book was published) was an important approach in studying of Medieval Turkey in the USSR. The mentions of unknown writings of A. S. Tveritinova in the letters are very important as well.
