The autumn of 2019 was a very productive time for the academic staff of the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Many academic staff members took an active part in a range of remarkable academic events. The current review is devoted to the most important international academic conferences organized by the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences in early October 2019: “The 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II” and “The World System of Socialism: global and regional aspects. Towards the 70th anniversary of COMECON’s formation”. The author also pays some attention to the section “Towards the 80th anniversary of the end of the Spanish Civil War of 1936—1939” organized by the Centre for Spanish and Portuguese Studies of the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences at the fourth international forum “Russia and Iberoamerica in the globalizing world: history and modernity” in Saint Petersburg.
