Abstract
The article is devoted to two insufficiently studied but extremely important political events in the history of Turkestan in the early 20th century: the preparation and elections to the state Duma and the Constituent Assembly. To what degree was the transition from “subjects” to “citizens” possible was for the traditional society of the region and whether these events have found a response in the hearts of Turkestan population, regardless of their ethnicity.
