Abstract
The article concentrates on complex analysis of the new interdisciplinary problem-field in the humanities — that of sociocultural threats. The authors build their conclusions on the latest research in the history, sociology, psychology, sociolinguistics, cognitive linguistics, neurosciences, semiotics, narrative studies etc. We draw on the concept of sociocultural threat both as applied research concept and as theoretical one. We hold that threat can be viewed both as an objective danger (within applied research), which causes peoples deaths or any other distractive consequences, and as a cognitive representation in the individuals’ minds and verbal representation in the discourse. We come to the conclusion that there is a need to develop a new interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary methodology, which will enable researches to explore conceptualization, verbalization and narrative expression of sociocultural threats at various levels at cognitive-discursive activities of the humans. The spectrum of such research is quite vast from neuro-processing to complex semantics of historiographic texts.
