Abstract
In the life’s decline of the Burgundian duke Philip the Good, in 1465, a scandal broke out at his court. The question of choice of the first chamberlain for the successor — Charle de Charolais became a reason for it. Granting this position to one of nephews of the omnipotent first chamberlain Antoine de Croÿ did not suit Charle at all. He said it to his father and it caused strong anger of the duke. The twists and turns of the conflict found reflection on pages of various writings: chronicles, pamphlets and even one family treatise. The interaction of competing parties was submitted by the authors from the position of their involvement in one or another party. The verbal strategies used by them often fitted into a circle of widespread peccata linguae, representing different types of deceptive practices: from ordinary lie to cunningly disguised discursive behavior.
