Abstract
The article is devoted to the Protest Photography Phenomenon that existed in South Africa in the 1980s. The author reveals the origins of the protest photo, as well as briefly characterizes this research direction paying attention to the history of Afrapix Photo Agency. The issue of the ideology of this movement is also considered in a special way. The protest photography is considered in the context of the History of the struggle against apartheid. The analysis may be used when doing further studies on South African Photography History, anti-apartheid movement and Theoretical Photojournalism, as well as when analyzing and classification of the photo images of photographer's the 1980s.
