Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the basic concepts of Lev Shestov’s religious philosophy. The philosopher's creative path is traced from the Narodnik’s and revolutionary ideas to the philosophy of tragedy and the philosophy of faith. In centre of his world outlook is located the attitude of God and man. Besides that throughout his creative career Shestov raised questions about the task and purpose of philosophy, expressed ethical ideas and touched upon epistemological questions. Shestov is the brightest representative of existential thought, which left a significant mark in European culture.
