Abstract
The article analyzes the peculiarities of the impact of the Philosophical Radicals on the struggle for parliamentary reform in 1830—1832. The philosophical radicals demanded significant changes to the electoral system of the country, which involved the adoption of so-called “public” suffrage and centralized state government. But “public” suffrage did not mean universal suffrage. Radicals therefore advocated a high property qualification, which closed the road to the Parliament representatives of the lower strata of society. The paper focuses on the role of the mass democratic movement for the adoption of reform of 1832. The author states that the reform was one of the most important political events in Great Britain which greatly improved the constitutional system of the state.
