Abstract
This work describes various aspects of popular devotion in connection with Spanish religious art. The author writes about its principal features. The faithful usually ask divine patrons for help in very concrete cases, principally in curing diseases. A very important element of this cult is the ability of an image to work miracles. Statues should be decorated as richly as possible and should be given expensive offerings. At the same time it is important to have some object from a shrine. We may note that in popular mentality particular images become even more important than their divine prototypes, which was a major concern for the church.

Este trabajo describe varios aspectos de devoción popular acerca de algunos objetos del arte religioso español. El autor se concentra en los principales rasgos de este fenómeno. Los creyentes habitualmente rogan ayuda a sus patrones divinos en casos muy concretos: enfermedad u otro mal. Un elemento importante de ese culto es el poder de una imagen de hacer milagros. Las esculturas de santos deben ser adornadas en un modo más rico posible y tener costosas ofrendas. Al mismo tiempo es importante de traer algún objeto de memoria del santo lugar. Uno puede decir que en la mentalidad popular imágenes concretos hacen un papel más significativo que sus prototipos celestiales.
