Abstract
Published documents illustrate some aspects of coexistence of two religious organizations (the Moscow community of Seventh-Day Adventists and the Moscow community of Evangelical Christians-Baptists) in the same building for over 50 years, from 1940 till 1993. These documents characterize not only interfaith relations, but also the role of the Soviet state in the life of religious associations by providing them with a common “cult” space. Practice of sharing one building for church service by different religious communities was typical of the Soviet period. The building of Reformed church in Maly Vuzovsky Lane was assigned to the community of Evangelical Christians-Baptists by the District Executive Committee. They signed a contract about it. Baptists, in their turn, concluded an agreement with the community of Seventh-Day Adventists on the schedule of church services and the principles of use of the property.
