Abstract
This article is devoted to the history of the Orenburg province in the period of wars and social upheavals of the beginning of the 20th century. It is told about the development of protest moods in the beginning of the 20th century, the participation of Orenburgers in the Russian-Japanese war of 1904—1905 and the First World War. An analysis of the political situation in the province after the overthrow of the autocracy is given. The process of a power struggle in the province in autumn of 1917 — winter of 1918, is described, and the civil war unfolded on the territory of the region. The article contains questions for the actualization of knowledge in the all-Russian context; section “Saved Time”, dedicated to the brightest preserved sights of this period; reference materials and the section “Working with documents”.
