Abstract
This article is dedicated to the activity of the Bradenburg resident Abraham de Wicquefort in Paris. Historians treat this character differently. Wicquefort regarded his activities as a business in politics. He negotiated a Franco-Brandenburg alliance, which could have an impact on the solution of Pomeranian and Jülich-Cleves questions at the Congress of Westphalia. The Brandenburg resident believed that his meetings in Münster, Osnabrück and Cleves ended successfully. The French side could not guarantee the realization of the fulfillment of the condition of the draft treaty on the influence of Sweden in the Pomeranian question. Friedrich Wilhelm realized that Wicquefort’s mission had failed, and ordered to cease the negotiations.
