Abstract
In this article, an attempt of the analysis of decline in history from the point of view of ontological and philosophy of history’s features of given phenomenon is undertaken. Opportunities and restrictions of the use of a dialectical method in research of such processes are discussed, and also is interpreted K. Marx's known thesis about tragedy and a farce in the development of history. Question of relation of ideal phenomena, significant for identity of society, and a declining reality as well as question of change of properties of historical time during the periods of backward development are scrutinized, also a problems of a meanings of the periods of decline to history as a whole are examined.
