Abstract
The article is devoted to the activities of Russian citizen and Orthodox priest Tikhon Shalamov on Kodiak Island, especially his interaction with various secular bodies, including commercial companies in Alaska. There is specificity of an exchange of correspondence between Tikhon Shalamov and the Russian Orthodox Bishop (later Patriarch) Tikhon. Particular attention is paid to the dialogue with representatives of indigenous peoples of Alaska in the late 19th century. This article contains rare documents from archives, museums and libraries. This study will be continued. There iscurrently an on-line publication about Tikhon Shalamov by this author, and a “hard-copy” publication about Fr. Shalamov is planned.
