Abstract
The article presents the concept of the famous British historian Christopher Hill, devoted to the study of the nature and causes of social movements on the eve of the English revolution of the middle of XVII century. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the views of the scientist to have a religious programs participants, as well as perception of their contemporaries, and to fight against them.
