Abstract
Multiple works are devoted to Personality and political Activity of German Chancellor Otto von Bismark. Nevertheless, wide Collection of Documents, belonging to “The Iron Chancellor“, is not thoroughly explored and some interesting Themes stay untouched both in domestic and foreign Historiography. One of such topics is Perception of Russia and Russian state and political Figures, especially Russian Emperor Alexander the Second, by Bismark. The Article on the Basis of official and private Correspondence of Bismark during his diplomatic Mission in Saint-Petersburg (1859—1862) studies his Evaluation of Personality and polical Outlooks of Russian Emperor. Detailed Examination of Documents of Bismark, considered in the Article, shows his Embracement of Principles on which Alexander the Second relied in foreign Policy and Estimation by Bismark of inner political Development of Russian State in one of the most crucial Moments of the History of the latter — Cancellation of Serfdom.
