Abstract
The article based on the results of a poll conducted by “Levada-Center” in February 2009 deals with the main problems of the state of the Orthodox religiosity in modern Russia. The author concludes that the essential, philosophical foundations of religious identity of the majority of Russian citizens define themselves as adherents of Orthodoxy, are very far from the mystical beliefs of the Orthodox Church itself: in a significant number of cases sociologically recorded, it is dealt with a “usage religiosity” more than with self-awareness as members of the mystical body of Christ.
