Abstract
The article is devoted to the Russian expeditions to Sacramento River in the early 19th century. The research is based on the Spanish sources that one needs to take into consideration, studying the early days of the Russian colonization of California, because most of the Russian archival materials for that period are lost. The author elaborates the hypothesis that the active Russian exploration of Sacramento River took place in the period prior to the establishment of Fort Ross.
