Abstract
This article is devoted to consideration of epistemological resourses of the dialogue between the feudalism typology concept and research practice in the sphere of mentality or historical anthropology aimed to the reconstruction of a specific character of West European civilization of Middle Ages. This text aims to specify both common traits and specificity of mentality codes transformation in a determined region as corresponding with theoretical knowledge about feudalism typology. Special attention is paid to such mentality phenomenon as the cult of Beautiful Lady, the execution of a Fools’ king during Carnival, the birth of Purgatorium idea, the character of laughter and religious discourse, witch-hunt, etc.
