Abstract

The paper analyses forms and methods of Roman Egypt administration’s control of number and membership of the priesthood. The author makes an attempt to elicit the existence of certain stages in the process of control of Egyptian priesthood and to differentiate the fields of competence of higher and local authorities in this sphere.
