Abstract
The article is an attempt to analyze evolution of the image of domestic servants in Soviet cinema. The changes that images of domestics and their employers undergo are presented in the context of evolution of state ideology and its implementation in official culture. The author stresses the role of the images, created by the movie industry, in formation of historical memory.
