Abstract
The article is devoted to Edward Said’s perception of the East and West, their relationships, and the interpretation of this idea by his critics. The philosopher believes that the division of the world into these two entities is partial, and that today’s East is a discourse, a set of statements and judgments created by western scholars, writers, and colonial administration officials. Even though Said’s opponents are trying hard to refute this idea we come across in their writings some tools and techniques for constructing Eastern reality as is described by Said in his work “Orientalism”.
