The main object of this paper is the analyse of the influence of the Soviet Russia on two Spanish writers. In particular, it addresses the influence of October revolution and soviet experience on novels of the twenties such as La Espuela (The Spur of Joaquín Arderíus, 1927) and La Venus mecánica (Mechanical Venus of José Díaz Fernández, 1929). Both writers were positioned against Primo de Rivera’s dictatorship and participated in the Spanish section of friends of the Soviet Union in the thirties. Their works, apart from other means, were a critical weapon against fascism, the exploitation of workers and the reaction to the harsh working conditions and lack of freedom. These novels showed an intellectual commitment to the ideals shared by the proletariat of a better future and a discourse of emancipation of humanity, furthermore avant-garde examples of social and political orientation.

Este estudio tiene como objetivo el análisis de los ideales inspirados en la Rusia soviética, y la influencia de su modelo entre los intelectuales españoles a través de la “novela social de avanzada” de la década de los veinte. En concreto, se aborda el influjo de Octubre en obras como La Espuela (Joaquín Arderíus, 1927) y La Venus mecánica (José Díaz Fernández, 1929), de escritores posicionados contra la dictadura primorriverista, que junto con otros canales como la prensa, fueron un arma crítica contra los fascismos, la explotación de los obreros y la reacción a las duras condiciones de trabajo y falta de libertades. Asimismo una manifestación de compromiso de los intelectuales con los ideales compartidos con el proletariado de un futuro mejor y un discurso emancipador de la humanidad, al tiempo que ejemplos de una estética vanguardista de orientación social y política.
