Abstract
The article deals with the state of research on the Spanish Renaissance and Baroque culture in Russia. The main emphasis is on the uneven character of Hispanic studies in various areas of investigations which impede the development of interdisciplinary approaches. The negative role of several stereotypes of various origin is also pointed out. The recently published “The Renaissance Culture” encyclopedia is marked as an important result of joint efforts of scientists in various areas: historians, philologists, art historians.
