Abstract
The article analyzes the experience of Research educational center (REC) on history in the field of of contemporary text-books and teaching materials on history . The center emphasizes the innovative project whose main task is to update the system of historical education in our country with the help of use of advanced informational and technical achievements The initial thesis of the project is the expert opinion is that historical education for the youth should not be just the teacher’s story or the author’s narration about past events as it is accepted in mass teaching practice .The task of innovative text-books is to generate the understanding that History is the science with its philosophy, methodology and toolkit. Just in that case it is possible to speak about history-teaching at a qualitatively new level different from «children's stories about the past».
