Abstract

This article is written in the main on the basis of archival documents. The author could reveal how the leaders of the Communist International tried to spread its influence among Indians in the middle of 1920s. The main executer of these Comintern plans was the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB). Its activists carried on agitation in Indian trade unions, among unorganized workers in India, among Indian sailors and students in Britain, supported the Communist Party of India (which was established in 1925), British Communists also carries on oral and printed propaganda. But they did not succeed in this activity. General weakness  and small in number of the CPGB, considerable difficulties in establishing of connections with Indians, including members of the Communist Party of India — all these did not permit British Communists to win over to their side the noticeable part of the 300 millions of population of India and direct anti colonial protest actions of Indian people into revolutionary struggle.
