Abstract

The camouflage uniform in the Soviet army as the main type of everyday military uniform was introduced in the late 80s, and before that it was issued only to Special forces, Airborne and Marine Corps recon. The camouflage of the Soviet military was clearly associated with the concept of “elite”. Camouflage uniforms could not simply be bought at the military trade, camouflage was issued from warehouses and strictly taken into account. Foreign camouflage was completely unattainable for the Soviet military. Thus, the Angolan camouflage for the Soviet military was: 1) the subject of military fashion; 2) the subject of scarcity; 3) a marker of belonging to the “outbound” — a group of Soviet citizens allowed to work abroad (a kind of elite of Soviet society); 4) a marker of a high level of personal entrepreneurial and everyday acumen — a real sign of the experienced.
