Abstract

The article discusses the problem of attribution of the map of Aleksinsky district. The map is kept in the manuscripts department the Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The map was dated in the 1946 inventory to the second half of the 18th century. Journal of surveying  a map of Aleksinsky district in 1739—1740. was found in RGADA. The journal is characterized as a historical source. It was possible to establish that in St. Petersburg in 1761, a copy of the map of the Sofonov surveyors was attached to the response to the questionnaire of the land gentry corps. Probably, the map stored in the Library of the Academy of Sciences is a copy of the map attached to the application form. The article analyzes the hillfort shown on the map.
