The article attempts to trace the history of the visual incarnations of the Portuguese Revolution of 1910. Simultaneously with the criticism of the monarchy, the visual image of the Portuguese Republic was formed as a half-naked young woman in a Phrygian cap with a green-red banner in her hands. In the official history of the Portuguese banner, there are many gaps in connection with the state of the sources. The green and red banner with a gold armillary sphere was approved as the official state banner of the Portuguese Republic. The visualization of conflict paradigms in Portugal existed to a greater extent in the space of public discussion than in real civil or political confrontation. After 1920, the banner visualization of the confrontation lost its relevance, reflecting the extinction of revolutionary sentiments in society. The image of the Republic-woman has gone out of the political context. Secretariat for National Propaganda since mid-1930s created a non-republican image of Portugal — the image of Portugal-mother, Portugal-peasant in national dress. The monarchist flag now exists as a cultural and political alternative as a result of diametrically opposed historical assessments of the First Republic in Portugal.
