1812—1815 was connected in terms of international relations with the Patriotic war of 1812 in Russia. Friendly relations between Russia and the United States developed in the early 19th century, economic relations were especially fruitful. However, the administration of Jefferson and Madison adhered to Pro-French positions. The opposition party of Federalists was confident in the victory of the Russian people in the Patriotic war of 1812. The article shows on the basis of various sources, the literary heritage of P. P. Svinin, A. G. Evstafyev, the American press, what was the relationship of different strata of American society to the heroic struggle of the Russian people against the Napoleonic invasion. The author also touches upon the issue of Russian mediation in peace negotiations between the USA and Great Britain.
