Abstract

The article is a brief review of contemporary Russian works on historical memory, which to some extent address the issue of current challenges or threats to cultural identity and indicate the prospects for overcoming these challenges as well.  The authors focus on the challenges and threats identified by the researchers in the field of memorial policy, as well as the relationship of memory, memory policy and identity. The attempt to problematize the relationship between national and global memory levels is noted The conclusion is made about the necessity of interrelation of professional and public measurement of work in the framework of memory studies.
