Abstract

This article traces the fight of Russian non-Bolshevik diplomacy for securing the right of Russia to take part in Versailles Peace Conference in 1919. Russian diplomatic corps did not submit to the Bolsheviks and continued its work in 1918. It was Russian diplomacy that addressed such issues as protecting the country’s interests and international recognition of one of the non-bolshevik governments of the country. This article presents a wide range of views of diplomats, anti-Bolshevik political and public figures on Russia’s place in the post-war world. It is also analyzed whether their views corresponded to the real state of affairs. Special attention is paid to the idea of participation in the conference without any reliance on the recognized government, which led to the creation of Russian Political Council, as well as role of the allies, their attitude to White Russia representatives’ intention to participate in defining the post-war world on equal terms.
